iPhone 16 is powered by the new A18 chipset, marking a shift from the recent trend where base iPhones used older Pro chipsets. This is brand-new silicon, built to support Apple Intelligence, allowing users to access AI features when they launch in October. To accommodate these capabilities, Apple has increased the RAM to 8GB (up from 6GB in the iPhone 15), while storage options remain the same at 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
The display on the iPhone 16 hasn’t seen much improvement either, featuring the same 6.1-inch OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and 1179 x 2556 resolution. It retains the peak brightness of 2,000 nits, just like its predecessor.
Regarding the battery, Apple hasn’t disclosed the exact capacity, but it claims the iPhone 16 will last up to 22 hours of video playback, offering two more hours than the iPhone 15. Charging speeds, however, have been enhanced, with reports suggesting 45W wired charging support and wireless charging reaching 25W, up from 15W on the previous model.
Lastly, the camera setup remains mostly unchanged, with a 48MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and 12MP front camera, similar to last year. However, the ultra-wide camera now has autofocus, enabling macro photography, and the iPhone 16 introduces the ability to capture spatial photos and videos, a feature absent on the iPhone 15.
